Our Firm is Working to Help Our Youth and Our Community
Safe Sober Prom Night is a non-profit organization which was founded in 1991. The foundation of the Safe Sober Prom Night program is the belief of two principles at work. They are positive peer pressure and a continuing awareness of the dangers of drinking and driving. Our goal is to prevent accidents and injuries, among young people, and to also present winning solutions for the challenges of various peer pressures.
Michael Lewis comments that “It was an honor to have received the Jake Alexander Public Service Award, an honor not previously bestowed upon a law firm.” This prestigous award was presented by the North Carolina Governor’s Highway Safety Program for the recognition of the efforts by Lewis and his firm for voluntarily and effectively implementing an anti-DWI (Driving While Impaired by Alcohol or Drugs) program within the community. Additionally, the firm was awarded the coveted American Bar Association Award for Dignity in Lawyer Advertising for the sponsorship of Safe Sober Prom Night.
Over the past 20 years, Safe Sober Prom Night has grown from a program in just one county to 10 counties in North Carolina. Safe Sober Prom Night encourages high school students to be safe with a written pledge to stay drug and alcohol free on prom night. To date, more than 400,000 students have signed the “Do It Right!” pledge.
There has been much support and attention focused on this worthy cause throughout the years. There is nothing more important to Michael Lewis and his associates than helping high school students learn about positive life choices and about remaining safe and sober.
