Doug has been with Lewis & Daggett since 1995, working first as our chief negotiator and now as an associate attorney. He concentrates his practice in serious personal injury liability claims, with particular emphasis in insurance law and alternative dispute resolution. He has worked in the areas of finance and insurance since 1984, most extensively in the area of automobile insurance coverage and claims. Prior to joining the firm, Doug worked for State Farm Insurance as a Claim Specialist. He held a North Carolina adjuster’s license from 1988 – 2008 and holds an Associate in Claims (AIC) designation from the Insurance Institute of America.
Doug earned his law degree from North Carolina Central University School of Law, Evening Program, magna cum laude. He served as a staff editor of the North Carolina Central Law Review from 2006 – 2008, and was published in 2006. Doug holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance, magna cum laude, from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and an MBA, with distinction, from Wake Forest University.
Doug is a member of the American Bar Association, The North Carolina Academy of Trial Lawyers, and the Forsyth County Bar Association. He is also a North Carolina Dispute Resolution Commission Certified Superior Court mediator.
In addition to his responsibilities with the firm, Doug enjoys teaching. He is a past member of the adjunct faculty at Randolph Community College where he has taught classes in business finance and insurance.
