Impressive Youth
Our Lewis & Daggett team was honored to participate with the North Carolina YMCA Youth and Government program this past weekend. Wow, what an impressive gathering of youth!

The Youth and Government program is a national program for high school students. The program enables young people to prepare for moral and political leadership through training in the theory and practice of developing public policies. The high school program includes the Youth Legislature, and a Conference on National Affairs. This creates a great opportunity for leadership training, legislative experience, as well as providing opportunities for debate and public speaking.
The 500 or some young people gathered Sunday afternoon were an extremely impressive group. Clearly they are our future leaders. They are looking for, and need, our ongoing support and encouragement as they pursue their goals. To administer the Youth and Government program there is a dedicated staff of YMCA leaders and advisors. There are also college advisors that participate in the program as part of their ongoing training and development, as well as assisting and guiding the program. The faculty advisors and sponsors from the various high schools are committed to the success of these young people.
We consistently find that our young people today are as bright and as talented as any previous generation. They want to lead and they want to succeed. The Youth and Government program clearly is part of the path on their road to success. These bright, talented, and passionate youth can make us all excited about the future! With continued leadership and guidance, these young people will insure the quality and the future of our communities for generations to come.
Our presentation to this group of young people was a brief motivational presentation on goals and success. There are libraries full of books discussing how to be a success. We shared three quick points to help them in their journey. First, reach high for your goals. Next, always handle yourself with class. And lastly never give up! We ended with the entire group of students standing, raising their right hands, and pledging to stay on the road to success.
Please add your personal encouragement to the youth of our communities. They deserve all of our support - after all, they are our future!
