Winston-Salem, NC (November 20, 2006) Mike Lewis and David Daggett of Lewis & Daggett, Attorneys at Law, started the Safe Sober Prom Night program in 1991 to combat the problem of alcohol and drug use among high school students. The annual program, now in over 400 schools in North and South Carolina, includes the production and airing of a television commercial featuring area high school students who “take the pledge” against drinking and driving.
This year’s spot was written by a Lewis and Daggett employee and produced locally at WXII-TV. Last week the Triad law firm received word that they have won 2 Silver International Davey Awards for the commercial in both the “low budget” and “non-profit” categories.
The focus of the Safe Sober Prom Night program is to raise awareness of the dangers of alcohol and drug use and to encourage an environment of positive peer pressure. These ideas are advanced in the award winning commercial which shows a number of area students taking the pledge.
The Davey Awards honors the achievement of “Creative David’s” where strength comes from ideas, intelligence and out-of-the-box thinking, not a “Giant’s” bankroll. Lewis & Daggett is honored to receive this special recognition in furtherance of the Safe Sober Prom Night mission.
